Project Summary

Students often miss or misunderstand important course expectations and policies buried in traditional syllabi, leading to confusion and misalignment between what students expect and what a course actually requires. To address this common challenge in higher education, I designed an interactive syllabus walkthrough using Articulate Storyline 360. This engaging learning solution helps students connect course guidelines to their responsibilities and supports their success from day one.

Learning Solutions

Recognizing that a static syllabus can overwhelm or go unread, I created an interactive version that guides students through each key section in a clear, student-centered way. Using Articulate Storyline 360, I developed an engaging module with interactive formative checks for key sections that will prepare them for a separate final quiz to reinforce understanding. This approach turns the syllabus into an active learning tool, helping students focus on how course policies, deadlines, and expectations directly apply to their role as learners. By the end of the walkthrough, students have demonstrated understanding and are better prepared to meet course requirements confidently.

Elevate Learning

This solution transforms a passive document into an interactive learning experience. Each section of the syllabus is broken into manageable parts, paired with opportunities to reflect on how course policies affect their day-to-day success. A final quiz that is separate from the review activity ensures that students have internalized the most important details before moving forward in the course.

Ensure Access

Using Storyline’s flexible design tools, I ensured the walkthrough is screen-reader friendly, includes clear navigation, and uses plain language to support diverse reading levels. Interactive checks and quizzes provide immediate feedback, supporting learners who need to review concepts. Multiple means of representation are leveraged, as students who prefer to skip the interactive walk-through can study the rubric as a traditional document to prepare for the final quiz.

Support Mastery

Formative checks strategically placed in the walkthrough help students gauge their understanding in the sections that students traditionally have the most questions about. The separate summative quiz reinforces key details and clarifies any misunderstandings before the course begins. This layered approach builds confidence and reduces confusion later in the term.

Each section draws directly on the instructor’s guidance, practical examples, and clear explanations to help students connect course requirements to their own success. The module is also easy to update each term, keeping the content aligned with faculty expectations and any course changes.
